Gulgong DC station was finally opened officially on the 22nd of May 2010. The opening was combined with a brigade presentation of National and RFS 10 and 20 year Long Service medals.

The awards were presented by RFS Assistant Commissioner Dominic Lane and Mike Veitch MLC representing the NSW Emergency Services Minister. Also in attendance was Member for Orange Mr Russell Turner and Mayor Percy Thompson representing Mid-Western Regional Council. 

The station was opened with an unveiling of the official plaque and presentation of a wall shield and NSW State Flag.
